Well Ada High School, there’s a new girl in town, and her name is Ms. Merchant. Ms. Merchant is Ada High’s new Health Core director. Health Core is a non-profit orginization founded by Dr. Oz and his wife. It’s primary goal is to combat the childhood obesity epidimic. There are bases all over the U.S. They have 62 schools in 13 different states. There are 3 in Oklahoma: Ardmore, OKC, and now Ada. She teaches about nutrition, fitness, and mental resilence ( or stability). Ms. Merchant currently has one goal in mind,  ” I hope to give students the right tools they need for making everyday healthy decisions.” As most of us know, Ms. Merchant is not from around here. Ms. Merchant isfrom South of Pittsburg, Penslyvania. She also has a Bermise Mt. dog named Timber. When asked about how she was enjoying Ada, she responded,  ” I love it!!! Everyone here is so welcomig. I love everyone’s serious obsession with football! “

Although, it’s not all work and no play for Ms. Merchant.  When asked the question ” What’s something embarrasing you did when you were younger?” Her response was hysterical.  ” Well, ( Grinnning really big ) one day my brother and I were playing with a small metal ball, kind of like hide and seek. It was my turn to hide it and I thought I would trick him and stick it in my nose… I ended up having a giant stick stuck up my nose. It didn’t work out like I had hoped.”  We had a blast meeting Ms. Merchant, we hope you guys did too!
