Book Review: Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen
Sarah Dessen introduces us to her new character “Ruby”. She is a young adult, whose mother has run off and left her, but Ruby still has high hopes that she will, one day, return to their home. Ruby is living just knowing one side of the story from her mother about her father thus making her view on life a difficult one. Soon Ruby’s older sister and brother-in-law Cora and Jamie take custody of Ruby. In the book you can find a developing friendship between Ruby and her next door neighbor Nate. For the most part Dessen does a remarkable job making the plot realistic and believable. At times the book does become confusing with fast paced format, then suddenly coming to a slow halt to solve the problems. Overall this book is one of Sarah Dessen’s best pieces.
