The district championship game was about to begin as the Ada Cougars were up against the Checotah Wildcats.  The tension was high as the girls tip off started the battle.  The games had a lot on the line as the winner would be the district champion.  Even though it wasn’t a season home game, the student section was roaring with pride as the girls went to battle.

Ada’s offense was an awesome force that was unstoppable.  The Lady Wildcats were giving all they had but was unable to stop the Lady Cougars from gaining the lead.  The Cougars also had no problem gaining the upper hand on the Wildcats.  The only way Checotah was going to be able to make a comeback is if Ada didn’t play hard on defense.

Ada made sure Checotah wasn’t able to come back ;however, as Ada punished Checotah on the defensive end.  The Lady Cougars caused several turnovers throughout the entire game.  The Cougars were in a fury as the Wildcats tried to score continuously.  The Cougars had multiple swats to stop the Wildcats from scoring.  The game was soon very one-sided as the seconds ticked away.

If the night wasn’t already exciting, senior Cory Kilby broke the all-time scoring record.  The record was previously held by Bo Overton. When Cory broke the record, the crowd erupted into a massive roar.  The senior had a grin that could be seen in anywhere in the gym.  Cory now has the rest of the season to expand his scoring record from reach.

The game was soon over as the buzzer went off.  The Checotah Wildcats were defeated and the Ada Cougars were victorious.  The final score for the girls was Ada 68 and Checotah 39.  The ending score for the boys was Ada 55 and Checotah 31.  The Lady Cougars and the Cougars are now heading for Regionals in Checotah.  Continue to cheer on the Cougars.  GO COUGARS!!
