Words Brought to Life
Poetry Out Loud is a competition in which students are to memorize a poem and recite it in front of fellow classmates. If recited well enough, students can continue on to Regionals, state, and if well enough, Nationals. Each winner at the state level receives $200 and an all-expenses-paid trip with an adult chaperon to Washington to compete for the national championship. Winners of Nationals receive 3rd place- 5,000, 2nd-10,000, 1st- 20,000.
Ada High School will be hosting our very own Poetry Out Loud competition, on November 24th & 25th. If you would like to join, memorize your poem, and prepare for talking in front of all of your classmates. If you are interested and would like more information, talk to Mrs. Compton, or your English teacher.
Mrs Compton stated, ” We’ve had two students compete at the state level in the past five years we have participated in Poetry Out Loud.”
So students competing in the Poetry Out Loud competition, do your best in memorizing and reciting your poems, and most of all have fun in what you are doing!
