Cougar in the Spotlight: Mercedes LaFleur
Merdcedes LaFleur has been noticed by teachers and students to be a cougar with all-around great character and an awesome can-do attitude. From giving respect to having responsibility, Ms. LaFleur has the right mind set to be this month’s Cougar in the Spotlight .
When asked what she thinks it takes to have good character, Mercedes responded with, “In order for an individual to have good character, I believe they must work hard to do what’s right 100% of the time. Making sure no one person is left out or singled out. Being there for anyone and everyone that needs it, even if you don’t know that person. Another thing to remember is always be resectful, even if an individual is disrespectful towards you. It’s your responsibility to understand the person is coming from somewhere, and you still need to support that person.”
Mercedes also had some critically important advice for students of Ada High. “I would say, if someone makes you mad or upset, be sure to reply with a smile and walk away. Also, if you happen to see a person sitting alone , whether it be a fledgling student or a strange student, walk over and introduce yourself, invite them to lunch , or offer to take them to class. It makes a difference, big or small. Try to be friends with as many people as possible. Never let another person lower your self-esteem.”
