Breast Cancer Could be Among Us
One out of every eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Roughly 58 out of the 468 students here at Ada High will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lives. Breast cancer affects men along with women worldwide, though women are more likely to be affected.
You should check yourself for breast cancer once a month just by feeling the breast tissue for lumps or looking for abnormal skin coloring or texture. Women under 50 should talk to a doctor about when start getting mammograms and how often to get them. Women over 50 to 74 should get a mammogram twice a year.
This week is Win Win Week and Ada High is doing its part to raise awareness of and combat cancer. There is a competition between third hour classes to collect the most money. All money raised will be donated to the Peggy and Charles Stephenson Cancer Center. The class who collects the most money will win a cookie party.
You can buy pink Win Win Week shirts to support the cause, and the $15 cost of the shirt will be donated to the cause.
The Pink Out Softball game will be Thursday, September 18th at 4:30. The Lady Cougs will battle Mcloud. Keith Howry will be participating in the first pitch.
The Pink Out Football game starts at 7pm on Friday, September 19th. The Cougars will take on Durant.
