Teacher of the Week
Teacher of the Week:
Mrs. Hibbard
How long have you been teaching at Ada?
Nine years.
What classes do you teach?
This year I teach geometry and honors geometry.
Do you enjoy what you do?
I love the satisfaction of knowing I’m helping students with their goals. But, like all jobs sometimes there are just bad days.
What did you do before you became a teacher at Ada?
I was a cartographer (map maker), programmer, investor, and the best job of all – a mom.
What are your hobbies?
I love to remodel houses! I also love to landscape. My other passion is reading and of course working math problems.
What made you want to become a teacher?
I love learning new things and wanted to share that love of learning with my students.
Where did you grow up?
California and Oklahoma, mostly Ada.
How does high school differ from when you were in school to now?
It’s really pretty much the same except there wasn’t any social media outlets.
Have you always wanted to become a teacher or is there something else you would have rather done?
There are so many opportunities and careers available to all of us. I’ve been blessed to follow many career paths but I think I always knew one would lead me to the teacher profession.
What is your favorite and least favorite thing about working at Ada?
My favorite thing about working at Ada High is the students who take their education seriously and try to do the right thing. My least favorite thing is students who don’t care about their future and disrupt the learning process of others.
