Golden Letters

Golden letters are now catching the eyes of staff and students here at Ada high. Once painted the school color of maroon, the letters seen in the front of the school are finally painted back to their original color of gold. To some this might seem as a simple repainting with little significance, but according to Mr. Golightly, “this is a sign of improvement and upliftment to the school.” The letters that read “Ada High School” were once defaced by a rival school in 1969. The golden letters were vandalized to a severe point, and the school had decided to simply paint over the letters. The letters stayed maroon until recently. Mr. Golightly stated that the school needs some repairs and remodeling done and he felt that the letters were a good place to start. So next time you’re walking into the school and the gold lettering catches your eye, keep in mind the story of the letters and what it means to be an Ada Cougar.
