AHS Special Olympians take to the track
Ada High School Special Olympians competed in the Special Olympics track meet in Pauls Valley on April 3. Students competing were: Dalton Smith, Brittney Chitto, Starr Martin, Christian Loubey, Shyla Smith, Nikki Smith and Teahtah Worcester.
Loubey competed in the 100 meter and the softball throw.
“My favorite event was 100m dash,” said Loubey. “I think I did well. I had fun. My favorite part of day was just having fun.”
Martin also competed in the 100 meter run and the softball throw.
“My favorite thing was running,” said Martin “I had a good time. I think I did really well. My favorite part of day was volleyball.”
To prepare for the event the athletes they practiced everyday during their Physical Education period for each event they entered.
Special Olympics is the largest sports organization for mentally and physically disabled people. The organization offers more than 30 Olympic style team and individual sports.
