Couganns Roar Towards State
On Sunday, September 21st, our Ada High Couganns tried out for the All-State Pom Team at Jynx High School. This year, two of the senior captains, Avery Carroll and Madee McGill, made the team.
Those trying out for the team had less than two weeks to practice a dance routine that was then videoed and uploaded onto a Facebook page.
The next step of the competition involved competing with eighty-five other hopefuls, first all together, then in groups of three.
At the conclusion of try-outs, Avery and Madee had both been selected to become a part of the All-State Pom Team.
Being a part of the All-state team comes with certain responsibilities and expectations. Madee and Avery will have to go to a few practices in October and November, and then preform in the State Competition in one big group.
Coach Waters says, “I believe Madee and Avery were the best dancers that tried out for All-state Pom, and I say that without bias, just because of their technical ability.”
When asked about how it was trying out, Avery Carroll replied, “It was a great experience.” While Maddee McGill said, ” I’m thankful for the opportunity to be apart of the All-state Pom Team.”
