The Perks of Being a Wallflower, by Stephen Chbosky, is a New York Times best seller about a boy named Charlie. The book is written through letters Charlie makes to an anonymous friend that someone recommended he write to. Charlie tells about his high school experiences as a socially awkward kid in his first year of high school. He meets two upperclassmen and they help him to discover first love, friendship, music and more throughout the story. Like all relationships they encounter a few rocky points between Charlie and his friends, and also his sister.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower was turned into a movie in 2012. Rated PG-13, the movie gained many rewards like People’s Choice Award for Favorite Dramatic Movie and Teen Choice Award for Choice Movie: Drama. The Perks of Being a Wallflower is an outstanding tale of growing up.
