Endangered Species: Cross River Gorilla
Cross River Gorilla
Extinction Risk: Critically Endangered
Population: 200 to 300 individuals
Found: Cameroon and Nigeria (about twice the size of Rhode Island)
You probaly have not heard of this species, but it is very similar to normal gorillas. This species lives in about 11 seperate pacts of about 27 per pact! They have a very great chance of going extinct. They have been hunted to this point of near extinction, and now the World Wildlife Foundation is stepping in and protecting the gorillas. Imagine going to a zoo and not seeing your favorite animals like gorillas. If poaching and deforestation continues, that may be exactly what happens.
