HealthCorps: Want to live a Healthier Life?

Health Corps. is all about helping us students live a better and healthier life. Ms. Merchant is the current Heath Corps coordinator. She comes to some classes on Tuesday to teach about living a healthier life.  Some easy ways to live a healthier life include:

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so it is essential to have breakfast every morning. Instead of eating some processed, fast food, or some sugary cereal, try alternative choices such as oatmeal with some type of fruit.  If you want some toast with your oatmeal, try whole wheat bread, not white bread. An omelet with bell-peppers & onions is also a good choice for breakfast.

Lunch is so stressful sometimes because you’re in a rush trying to get somewhere to eat then get back, so of course, you need something that is fast and easy. If you are eating a fast food lunch, try to get grilled or baked foods instead of fried.  It is much healthier.

For dinner, try to eat a variety of veggies and a lean meat (chicken, turkey, etc.).

Serving size is a key factor in being healthier.  Most of the time we just go eat and don’t stop til we are about to explode.  Instead of stuffing yourself like a thanksgiving turkey every time you eat, try and use serving sizes. You’ll feel much better afterwards, and you’ll start to notice results.

Exercise is so important to living a healthy life.  No matter your size, lifestyle, health level, etc., you should try to find some sort of exercise that you like and do it on a regular basis.  Try to find something you like doing, whether it is a sport, running, walking, etc.   You can’t go wrong as long as you are getting some type of exercise.

Ms. Merchant is teaching a Cardio Kickboxing class on Wednesdays 3:30-4:15 in the ACAC Hospitality Room. This is for anyone who wants to participate, students and teachers.  Get an awesome workout that combines both cardio and strength. This exciting kickboxing class works both your heart, muscles, coordination, and balance.

Follow these simple tips, and you can be well on your way to living a healthier lifestyle.
